Hi, and welcome to Silverwood.

This site is very much under construction...hay-elp! What am I doing?!

Anyway, about the site: don't confuse me with Silverwood.com...how unfortunate is it that, of all things in the world a soccer team had to nick my name for the dot com! I am not the world's greatest fan of football fan, to put it mildly.

I am also nothing to do with silverwood.net who make PCs.

I was a bit cross that silverwood.co.uk had gone, especially to a company in Wapping of all places. still, the name Wapping has always given me a giggle, right up there with East Grinstead and Acrington Stanley (instantly alienates even more people, having already annoyed several million footie fans).

No, my Silverwood is named after the book I'm currently scribbling...well... it's one of the books I'm writing..I'm great at starting creative projects and then leaving them for several...um...years. The name for the book I got in turn from a combination of sources: silver is my favourite colour, my favourite metal, and silver birches my favourite tree. As the book in question is about the conservation of a wooded area it seemed appropriate. I also happen to pass a small side street called Silverwood Avenue on my way to work every day and I liked the name.

So, what's kind of a site is this?

That's a very good question. Well it's a home site, that means it's amateur and not technically advanced, though I have to say, I've seen many amateur sites which knock spots off some of the arty sites created for large corporations. My site is very definitely not arty, nor is it very good...but I'm working on it. As to the content: well I haven't quite decided where I'm going with it, but I think I'll start with what I know, and what I care about so I guess we could head off in the general direction of films, writing and conservation. Please bear with me while I get my act together enough to put a few pages online.
